A new poll has found that Canadian approval of the United States has fallen to the lowest levels on record since surveys began in 1982: 44 percent approval to 53 percent disapproval.

The Environics Institute for Survey Research (EISR), which conducted the research, concluded that the cause of the spike in anti-American sentiment was the election of Donald Trump as president of the US and an uptick in nationalism in American politics, which most Canadians find unpalatable.
