The schedule of the Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Hamburg has not yet been fully determined and the details of the possible meeting with US President Donald Trump will be announced later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Germany is hosting the G20 summit which will be held in the city of Hamburg on July 7-8.

"We will timely inform when the president's program in Hamburg is fully prepared, you know that Putin will be in Hamburg on July 7 and 8. When it is fully formulated, we, accordingly, will tell you about it," Peskov told reporters answering the question whether there were any details of the bilateral meeting.

The spokesman added that the president planned to hold a series of bilateral contacts.

Later in the day, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov also commented on the upcoming meeting.

"I have heard that the Americans, if it's true, want to raise the issue of Syria and Ukraine. I think it is quite logical to discuss these two issues, but we think that the problem of international terrorism should be discussed first between the two leaders of the leading powers, since without the cooperation of Russia and the United States the problem is unlikely to be overcome," he said.

He said there were many other topics that Moscow was ready to discuss: all the regional problems, the disarmament issue, which requires the primary attention of both leaders.

"In the talks with Trump, the topic of arms control and strategic stability may be touched upon, with Russia and the United States, as the biggest nuclear powers, being particularly responsible for its preservation," Ushakov told reporters.

"The meeting is really important, everyone is waiting for it. The presidents have held four telephone conversations, but this, of course, is not enough, because now this conversation is important for bilateral relations, bilateral relations are practically at zero level. To ensure international stability and security, this meeting is of course of high importance," Ushakov told reporters.

Putin-Trump G20 Meeting to Become the Key to the Future of US-Russian Relations
"It has been agreed that the presidents will meet within the framework of the G20, but the schedules are rather tight. As for our president, the schedule is really tight, but we will look, jointly with US partners, for intervals, so-called slots in the schedules of both presidents for this very important meeting."

"We understand that everything is complicated, that relations with Russia have become a casualty of the internal political struggle in the United States, so what? We face difficulties as well, but we want to and will work together with the United States," Ushakov added.

He said the Russian and US sides were trying to coordinate the meeting. "I am convinced the presidents will meet each other in Hamburg," Ushakov said.

On Thursday, US National Security Adviser Herbert Raymond McMaster said at a press briefing that Trump and Putin would meet for the first time on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
