Russia insists on the need to seek ways out of a crisis surrounding the Parliamentary Assembly to the Council of Europe (PACE) after Moscow suspended fee payments to the CoE's 2017 budget, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow detailed its position during Aleksei Meshkov's talks with CoE Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland in Strasbourg on Monday.

"Meshkov explained in detail Russia's position in connection with the decision to suspend the Russian contribution payment to the CoE budget for 2017. The urgent need was stressed to find ways out of the deep crisis inside and around PACE," the ministry said.
