MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The report of human services department showed that in 2016 there had been 209,307 users able to access Health Professional Online Services (HPOS), a system, which can be used to find patients’ Medicare card details, The Guardian newspaper reported.
The news comes against the background of a revelation made by the newspaper on Tuesday about a website, which was selling the details of Australian Medicare card holders.
Human Services Minister Alan Tudge viewed the incident rather as a criminal activity than a hacking since the department believes that the details were accessed with the help of legitimate login and password to the health system.
