MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Council of the European Union had approved the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement ahead of the bilateral summit in Kiev scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
"Poroshenko should not be proud of the association [agreement] with the EU. This bondage arrangement with a lot of restrictive quotas for Ukraine is not the defeat of the Kremlin but rather his own," Pushkov wrote on his official Twitter page.
On June 27, 2014, Poroshenko and EU leaders signed the association deal, which was ratified by the Ukrainian parliament in September 2014. The document stipulates the implementation of a series of political and economic reforms in Ukraine aimed at improving political and social institutions and eliminating corruption to gain access to the EU market.
