WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. — the president’s son — issued a statement about a meeting between himself, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, then campaign manager Paul Manafort and a Russian lawyer.
Donald Trump Jr. said they met with a lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, because she claimed to have information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Hillary Clinton.
"Nothing is proven yet, but we’re beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what’s being investigated," Kaine stated. "This is moving into perjury, false statements and even into potentially treason."
On Saturday, Trump Jr. had issued a statement saying he met with Veselnitskaya to discuss the adoption of Russian children by Americans.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday that Moscow was unaware of the meeting, adding that it is impossible to keep track of all Russian lawyers both inside the country and abroad.
