MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) news outlet as quoted by DutchNews media portal, the Dutch secret services AIVD and MIVD will now be allowed to gather traffic of large groups of people at once as opposed to checking individual internet connections.
Dutch online rights watchdogs have expressed concern that under the new law the Netherlands' spy agencies might use tapping powers without proper oversight, according to the news outlet.
The legislation was passed after years of debates, including in courts, and of combating criticism from the public, journalists as well as privacy supporters.
The law has to be signed by the Dutch king to come into force.
