YEKATERINBURG (Sputnik) — INNOPROM is an international industrial exhibition held annually in Yekaterinburg since 2010. In 2017, the Russian city hosts the international event for the 8th time on July 10-13 with more than 95 delegations attending it, according to the organizers.
"I believe that the current fair will make a significant contribution to the further boost of relations. It became a place where we are learning each other, learning our potential counting on the further cooperation," Tajima said.
From his point of view, if Japan and Russia boost economic ties, the states will better understand and trust each other.
"On this basis it is possible to solve all the problems. Against such a background, hopefully, it will possible to sign a peace treaty, which will promote the further improvement of economic ties, further rapprochement," Tajima said.
He added that about 170 Japanese enterprises were presenting their production at the industrial fair.
Russia and Japan are taking a step forward in resolving the Kuril Islands standoff after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the second rounds of talks on the issue in late 2016. The two leaders agreed to create a special regime on the islands leading to the establishment joint economic projects.
