MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and US Ambassador to Moscow John Tefft discussed on Wednesday issues concerning Ukraine, Moldova and the South Caucasus, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin received US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft upon the request of the latter. The parties have discussed issues related to Ukraine, Moldova and Transcaucasia," the ministry said in a statement.
Karasin and Tefft had already met to discuss the conflict in Ukraine and developments in Moldova and the South Caucasus in March. Both parties were particularly concerned with the events in Transcaucasia, in the context of a regular round of Geneva consultations on security and stability in the region that took place June 20-21. A new round of Geneva talks on the South Caucasus will be held October 10-11.
