WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The release noted that Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya was denied a US visa to travel from Russia to the United States to practice litigation. Although she was eventually granted parole to make the trip, it was set to expire on January 7, 2016.
"[Grassley] today wrote to Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in order to ask how the Russian attorney who met with Donald Trump, Jr. at Trump Tower in June of 2016 was allowed to enter the United States," the release stated on Tuesday.
Trump Jr. earlier on Tuesday, poured fuel on the fire on the election meddling scandal, by releasing an email chain with British publicist Rob Goldstone about a meeting with the Russian lawyer to allegedly discuss compromising information on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
