"It is conceivable that we would be offered a punishment deal that would be worse than no deal," Green said, speaking in the UK Parliament.
On Tuesday, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said that the United Kingdom was not preparing for a "no deal" outcome, as London is confident it will get a good deal. The foreign secretary also said that the amount of money the European Union could potentially demand from the United Kingdom, as a kind of Brexit divorce payment, was "extortionate."
Brexit negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union officially kicked off on June 19, and are due to be completed by March 30, 2019. According to the European Commission, the agenda of the first round of talks is set to focus on "citizens" rights, financial settlements, in addition to the Ireland, North Ireland border issue and other matters of separation.
UK Prime Minister Theresa May has repeatedly stressed that a bad deal with Brussels is worse than no deal at all.
