Kurds Should Not Hold Independence Vote Amid Anti-Daesh Campaign - McGurk
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A 47-year old man was charged with being a member of a foreign terrorist organization, the Anadolu news agency reported.

Kurds are an ethnic minority in Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria and are striving for the establishment of an independent Kurdish state.

The PKK has been especially active and aggressive in pursuing this goal. The group targeted, in particular, Turkish officials and troops.

The conflict between Turkey and Kurdish militant groups seeking independence escalated in July 2015, leading to frequent acts of terror by the PKK and regular anti-PKK operations by the Turkish government.

The group has been outlawed in Germany since 1993.
