WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — "Human Rights First today released an audio recording of a Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agent repeatedly turning away asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border, a violation of US law and treaty commitments," the group stated on Thursday.
The audio was recorded at the San Ysidro port of entry in California on February 4. The family, from Honduras, was later admitted and processed by US authorities as refugees, Human Rights First said.
At the US border, a CBP agent told the family that they could not be processed at the port of entry.
Last month, Human Rights First released a report documenting dozens of cases in which US border agents illegally turned away asylum seekers from the southern border.
