MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Defense attorney Zaurbek Sadakhanov called the verdict unjust and vowed to file an appeal.
"To impose a sentence to Dadayev in the form of 20 years imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony and a fine of 100,000 rubles [$1,659]," Judge Yuri Zhitnikov said.
Four other suspects have been sentenced to 11-20 years in prison.
On February 27, 2015, Nemtsov, who occupied a number of senior positions in the Russian government in the 1990s, and was an active opposition figure in the 2000s, was shot dead in downtown Moscow.
