WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Sanders, who represents the US state of Vermont in the Senate, said the deep cuts to the healthcare program Medicaid, the proposed plan to defund Planned Parenthood and tax breaks for large drug corporations constitute the main points of concern in the proposed legislation.
"The revised Republican 'healthcare' plan is an absolute disaster that will inflict severe economic pain on millions of Americans," Sanders said. "Let’s be clear: the Republican bill is fatally flawed and no small tweak here or there will undo the massive damage that it will cause to Vermont and the entire country."
Moreover, if the proposed legislation passes, it will cause unnecessary deaths of millions of Americans each year, Sanders claimed.
Earlier on Thursday, Senate Republicans released a revised healthcare plan intended to dismantle Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare. A vote on the measure is scheduled for next week.
