Created mostly from scratch, linguist David J. Peterson constructed the language around two key phrases from George R.R. Martin’s "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels: Valar Morghulis and Valar Dohaeris. For those not yet in tune with the lingo, the first translates to "all men must die," while the other says "all men must serve."
Despite Peterson’s self-proclaimed authority on the language, the show’s fans continue to tweet him to correct mis-translations of the Thrones-based dialect, according to The Verge.
While most dedicated fans have taken it upon themselves to learn the fictional language with the help of several online dictionaries, Duolingo’s course is the first time an official roadmap has been established for people around the world.
It’s safe to say, many are feeling pretty excited about the opportunity.
