On Thursday, US District Judge Derrick Watson in Honolulu ruled that exceptions to Trump’s March 6 executive order to temporarily restrict entry of all refugees as well as nationals from six Muslim-majority countries into the United States should include grandparents, grandchildren, cousins and a number of other relations.

Earlier on Friday, the US Justice Department announced it would appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court to ensure the national security interests of the United States are protected.
