HOMS (Sputnik) — “Recently, the residents of the Homs province’s district of Umm Haratayn, where Umm Jameh is a key settlement, signed a ceasefire agreement. We delivered 1.5 tonnes of food to those in need, primarily to the poor families and to the widows of the Syrian servicemen, who were killed in the defense of Syria,” Durandin told reporters.
Muhammad Hammit, the local official, thanked the Russian servicemen for the humanitarian aid and stressed that the residents of the area strongly need Russia’s support.
The official added that the terrorists of the Al-Qaeda group, which is outlawed in Russia, previously have attacked the Umm Jameh settlement for a total of nine times, but the Syrian government army and local residents managed to repel the attacks.
Russia has been carrying out regular humanitarian aid deliveries to Syria, where people are suffering from the consequences of ongoing fighting between the government forces and terrorists.
