MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's special aide and brother Hossein Fereydoun has been detained, Iran's judiciary said Sunday.
Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i has confirmed that Fereydoun was detained late on Saturday, the IRNA news agency reported.
Fereydoun may be released on bail while the case against him is set to proceed, according to the spokesman.
The president's brother, who was a special envoy at the Iran nuclear talks in 2015, is reportedly suspected of committing financial crimes.
