ZHUKOVSKY (Sputnik) – Earlier this year, the Russian deputy defense minister said that Russia will consider the development of hypersonic weapons and supplying the country's Armed Forces with them as one of the high-priority spheres in the country's 2018-2025 state armaments program.
"We intend to obtain in … 2020-2022 a range of devices and aviation means of destruction which will work on hypersonic speeds," Borisov told reporters.
Russian scientists have surpassed their colleagues from the United States on hypersonic speed advances, director of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Siberian Branch Vasily Fomin said earlier.
On April 20, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said the country was developing hypersonic weapons on par with the United States.
