WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Tuesday, Operation Inherent Resolve denied reports that its partner force on the ground, the Syrian Democratic Forces, paused operations around Raqqa after suffering heavy casualties.
"Near Raqqah [Raqqa], 16 strikes engaged 10 ISIS [Daesh] tactical units and destroyed 13 fighting positions, two ISIS-held buildings, a tactical vehicle and an UAS [unmanned aerial system]," the release stated on Tuesday.
Nine additional coalition strikes in Syria on Monday destroyed oil stills, wells, and storage tanks as well as a warehouse and a Daesh fighting position near Abu Kamal, Al Shadaddi and Deir ez-Zor.
In Iraq, the coalition said it conducted four strikes consisting of four engagements against terrorist targets near Mosul, Qayyarah and Rawah.
The strikes engaged Daesh tactical units and destroyed weapons caches, a building and a staging area, according to the release.
