MOSCOW, July 19 (Sputnik) — The additional strike will extend the 14-day strike that started earlier in the day, which means that the mixed cabin crew will be striking for the next four weeks, the press release specified. By and large, today marks the 46th day of industrial action after a 16-day stoppage from July 1 to July 16.
"Members of Unite working for British Airways’ mixed fleet today (Wednesday 19 July) announced a further 14 days of strike action amid warnings that the airline’s attempts to bribe people into not striking would fail," the press release read.
The newly-announced strike will run between August 2 and August 15, according to the press release.
Since 2010, new British Airways cabin crew employees join the so-called mixed fleet, where their basic salary starts at just 12,192 pounds ($15,892) despite promises that they pay would be 10 percent above the market rate, the press release noted.
