Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Versailles in May allowed to restart dialogue between Paris and Moscow, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW, July 19 (Sputnik) — According to the minister, Macron clearly presented to Putin his position on Ukraine, but noted that cooperation is possible in other areas, especially regarding the situation in Syria.

"The fact that Vladimir Putin came to Versailles allowed to resume the dialogue with Russia. It did not disappear completely, but it was occasional and very complicated up to this moment," Le Drian said in an interview with the CNews channel.
