MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Ryabkov noted that under US laws, before Huntsman's official appointment as ambassador to Moscow his candidacy must clear the US Senate.
"We will see how hearings in the Senate will go, but we gave our consent having a good understanding of Huntsman's biography, realizing that he is a high-level professional, a person who has strong convictions, very experienced, who has seen much," Ryabkov said during the 60 Minutes program broadcast by Rossiya-1 television.
Huntsman was born on March 26, 1960 in the town of Palo Alto, the US State of California. Huntsman has served as the head of the US diplomatic mission to Singapore and China. From 1989 to 1990 Huntsman was the deputy assistant secretary of state in the Department of International Trade. In 2005-2009 he was the governor of Utah.
