"I know that US is concerned about the ongoing situation there and we believe that both parties, both sides should work together to try to come up with some better sort of arrangement for peace," US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert told media.
"The India-China standoff in Doklam area in the Sikkim sector is being closely watched by US, Russia and other European and Asian countries. In fact, the lingering standoff is a matter of concern for the rest of the countries, as it will impact the world geo-political situation. Now, the US has expressed its concern and has asked both India and China to find a solution. In the coming days, Russia may also ask both countries to end impasse through bilateral talks," noted strategic expert Uday Bhaskar told Sputnik.
The standoff began when China tried to build a road in the Doklam area, which Bhutan claims as its territory. India has become party of this dispute, according to the terms of treaty with Bhutan. India also considers the Doklam tri-junction as a strategic point and does not want to give strategic advantage to the Chinese in the region.
