WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US defense contractor BAE Systems has been awarded more than $45 million to provide systems integration support for the next generation ballistic nuclear missile known as the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD), the Department of Defense said in a press release.
"BAE Systems, Rockville, Maryland, has been awarded a $45,177,892 modification to the integration support contract to exercise an option on previously awarded contract for Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) integration support, the release said on Thursday.
BAE will provide program risk management, strategic planning, quality assurance, systems engineering and integration for the GBSD, among other requirements, the release added.
GBSD is the next generation land-based intercontinental ballistic missile being designed for the US Air Force and will replace the aging Minuteman arsenal currently in place.
