Having struggled with drugs and alcohol for years, Bennington noted that in the past he considered committing suicide due to the child abuse he endured by an older male.
Ironically enough, he was close friends with Audioslave and Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, who hung himself at the age of 52 in his MGM Grand Detroit hotel room back in May. Upon learning of Cornell's death, the rock singer wrote an open letter to Cornell recalling the impact his friend had on him.
Bennington's band took fame from a series of hits that include "Faint," "In the End" and "Crawling."
