WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The New York Times reported on Thursday afternoon that the Homeland Security Department confirmed the ban has been terminated.
In March, US authorities banned electronic devices from cabins on flights originating in ten countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The ban was implemented over concerns by US intelligence that the devices could be used to smuggle explosives on board.
The report stated that Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly announced new security standards for carriers flying into the United States to screen passengers for trace of explosives.
