WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States is calling on the Ukrainian government to hold the individuals responsible for last year's killing of journalist Pavel Sheremet accountable, US Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert told reporters on Thursday.
"Regrettably, no one has been [held] accountable for his murder," Nauert said. "We want to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends and urge the government of Ukraine to use all available resources to bring those responsible to justice."
Sheremet, who worked for various Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian media outlets, died in a car explosion in Kiev on July 20, 2016.
The results of the investigation into Sheremet’s murder have yet been made public.
