Somewhere in this crazy world, Vince Gilligan, the creator behind AMC’s hit show "Breaking Bad," is wondering whether he maybe accidentally predicted the future.

Bearing a shocking resemblance to the central plot line of the New Mexico-based show, 56-year-old John W. Gose, a former chemistry teacher in Las Cruces, about three hours south of Albuquerque, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of cooking methamphetamine.

Gose didn’t exactly go down like Walter White: he was instead given a four-year prison stay followed by five years of probation after pleading guilty to "trafficking by manufacturing a controlled substance among four methamphetamines-related counts," according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

"We asked the court for the sentence we felt was appropriate for Mr. Gose," Dona Ana County District Attorney Mark D'Antonio said in a statement. "We are very pleased that the defendant will have to face the consequences of his illegal and irresponsible decisions."

The "Breaking Bad" doppelgänger originally faced at least 20 years in prison.

Gose was arrested in October 2016 after New Mexico police found a styrofoam ice chest full of chemicals, glassware and rubber tubing during a routine traffic stop in Las Cruces.

After police searched his home, they reported finding additional supplies that could have created as much as $44,800 worth of methamphetamine.

According to prosecutors, Gose used to teach science to high schoolers in El Paso, Texas, and middle schoolers in Las Cruces.

No word on whether there was a partner (hi, Jessie!) involved in the drug manufacturing enterprise.
