The International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS), one of the world's largest aviation shows, is held on the Gromov Flight Research Institute (LII) airfield in Zhukovsky, 40 km (25 miles) south-east of Moscow.
The city is home to a robust aviation research and technology culture, and has one of the longest runways in Europe. The salon’s primary goal is to showcase Russian-made high-tech equipment and demonstrate the openness of the Russian market to joint projects with foreign partners.
