Last week, US media reported that Trump Jr. met with Veselnitskaya in June 2016 expecting she would present sensitive information about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Later, Trump Jr. published emails confirming media reports that a British publicist, Rob Golstone, set up a meeting between him and Natalia Veselnitskaya in June 2016.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Veselnitskaya does not represent the Russian government, and Veselnitskaya told NBC News on Tuesday that she never had any ties to the Kremlin or compromising information on Clinton.
Donald Trump Jr.’s lawyer Alan Futerfas said earlier that there have been no grounds for sensationalizing the fact that his client met with a Russian lawyer in 2016, calling it "much ado about nothing."
