"University of Dayton Research Institute [at] Dayton, Ohio has been awarded a $43,000,000… contract for composite, adhesives, specialty technologies, and elastomer research," the release said on Thursday.
Under the contract, the institute will provide systems support for improved materials and process for field systems and next generation aircraft as well as developing and testing new technologies, the Defense Department explained.
"This effort will address interactions between adhesives, composites, elastomers, specialty materials and various other aerospace materials to deliver solutions for aerospace customer needs," the release added.
Work on the project will be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and in Dayton over the next seven years and is expected to be completed by October 14, 2024, the Defense Department said.
