Answering a question on whether the direct talks could take place in Kuwait or Russia, the Qatari ambassador said that the venue did not play a huge role in this case and stressed the importance of the talks.
"That's the whole point — to come around and to have a discussion, transparent discussion on any outstanding issues, any grievances that one has. But what he [the Qatari emir] stated equally yesterday was [that] any such discussion should not come at the expense of our nation's sovereignty and should not come in the form of dictation," Attiyah said.
"Qatar has the capacity to continue under the current circumstances until the four blockading countries start to abide by the international conventions, norms, and we will be starting legal proceedings very soon, if no constructive actions are taken," Attiyah said, adding that the country is "very much looking to resolving this crisis."
The ambassador added that the row was surrounded by numerous contradictory statements from different sides, while Qatar's position, as well as Kuwait's role as a mediator, were clear as the states were seeking settlement to the diplomatic crisis.
