MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Le Parisien newspaper reported on Sunday that a number of partisans protested against what they considered to be not very democratic process statutes, since not everyone had been able to familiarize themselves with the charter before the vote which began on Sunday and is expected to go on until next Monday.
The petitioners are reportedly using the formal excuse of the by-laws having been submitted for vote earlier than they legally should have been and hoping to have the vote postponed until December.
According to the outlet, the hearing is scheduled for Tuesday 1:30 p.m. local time (11:30 GMT).
Le Parisien reported, citing some of the party's adherents, that the national convention of the party held on July 8 was the starting point, since a number of lawmakers, local elected officials and La Republique en Marche committees' members discovered that the excerpts from future by-laws "had nothing in common with the spirit of En Marche!" The petitioners reportedly would like to see more grassroots proposals to be taken into account by the party leadership.
La Republique en Marche won the majority of seats in June parliamentary elections, ensuring that the president has support in the National Assembly.
