MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin could possibly visit the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS), set to take place in Sochi in October, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday.
"With a high degree of confidence we could assume that yes, he will," Peskov told the Izvestiya newspaper, when asked if Putin would attend the event.
The festival’s spokesman Anton Pashkov said that the organizers of the event hoped that the president would attend the festival despite his busy schedule, the media added.
The festival will be held in Sochi on Octiber 14-22, bringing together young journalists, sportspeople, artists, engineers and IT-specialists, as well as representatives of non-commercial organizations, political parties, young entrepreneurs and scientists – a total of over 20,000 people from 150 countries.
