ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iraqi Vice President Nouri Maliki discussed the issue of supplying Russian T-90 tanks delivery to Iraq, Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Director Dmitry Shugaev said.
On Thursday, Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Kozhin told the Izvestiya newspaper that Russia and Iraq had signed a contract on delivering Russia’s T-90 tanks to the Middle Eastern country. Russia’s Uralvagonzavod company said on July 4 that the first shipment of 73 tanks was scheduled for this year.
Shugaev on Tuesday said the issue "was mentioned" at the Putin-Maliki talks.
Maliki arrived in Russia on a working visit aimed at discussing bilateral cooperation as well as the present Middle East situation.
