Splash! Playful 40 Ton Humpback Whale Leaps Out of Water
13:00 GMT 25.07.2017 (Updated: 19:31 GMT 19.10.2022) A group of scuba divers was exploring the waters off the coast of Mbotyi in Pondoland, South Africa, hoping to capture some predator feasting frenzy. While they were waiting for several hours, migrating humpback whales entertained them with an impressive sight, jumping out of the Indian Ocean every now and then.
This video shows an enormous adult humpback whale breaching fully out of the water. "It shows an adult 40 ton whale on its back, slapping both its left and right fins on the water, then leaping entirely out of the water!" scuba diver Craig Capehart wrote in the description to the footage he snapped and published on his YouTube channel. "A very rare event, indeed."
