“In one of the areas of the Baltic Sea crews of Russian and Chinese vessels fulfilled four planned tasks as part of the exercises. The tactical groups held joint practice activities on examination of suspicious ships, rescue of a person in the water, transferring dry cargoes to vessels and providing assistance to an improvised ship in distress,” Martov said.
He added that after the completion of the drills’ program, the group of Chinese ships would head for St. Petersburg.
Joint Sea-2017 kicked off on Saturday in Baltiysk and will last until Friday. The drills are aimed at practicing interaction between the Russian and Chinese fleets in countering naval threats, coherence of actions of the crew and enhancing cooperation between the Russian and Chinese naval troops, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
