WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Boeing has received a more than a quarter-of-a-billion dollars contract from the US Army to develop the next versions of the CH-47 Chinook military transport helicopter, the US Department of Defense said in a press release.
"Boeing Company [of] Ridley Park, Pennsylvania was awarded a $276,641,287 cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for engineering and manufacturing development for the CH-47F Block II program," the release stated on Thursday.
Work on the contract will take four years and is scheduled to be completed on July 27, 2020, the Defense Department said.
The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is an twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter that transports troops, carries heavy artillery and resupplies combat forces on battlefields.
