Later police said that the perpetrator was a lone wolf attacker.
"That was definitely a lone wolf attacker. Initial reports about robbery as a possible motive have not been confirmed yet," police added.
According to the Bild newspaper, the attacker shouted "Allahu Akbar." The attacker's motive so far has been unclear. A representative of the police press service told Sputnik that it was unclear whether the incident was a terror attack.
"We are not assessing this attack now. Firstly, we will reveal the facts, see what happened and then give an assessment. Whether it is a terrorist attack or something else, these are only rumors disseminated by media. We cannot confirm that," the spokeswoman said.
She said that the identity of the attacker was being established, adding that he was slightly injured when he was detained.
