Despite all the checkpoints airports have installed in recent years, a 45-year-old nursing assistant somehow wound up in Greece rather than her intended destination of Copenhagen Tuesday.

Ana Maria Bittencourt Marques was checking in at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport, when somehow, she received the boarding pass for a Marie-Christine Midavaine, who was going to Athens, Greece.

"My ticket was made out in another name, and I didn’t have enough time to check it because I was in a hurry," Marques reported.

According to the misdirected passenger, a gate agent did check her boarding pass and passport, "but they did not check to see if the name was different." Oblivious to the issue, Marques boarded the Athens-bound plane, took a snooze and only realized what happened after she saw the Greek alphabet inside Athens International Airport.

After getting ahold of herself, the Porto Alegre, Brazil, assistant was later flown to Copenhagen through a connecting flight in Luxembourg by Air France, reported Channel News Asia.

"After arriving in Athens, the passenger was redirected to Copenhagen," the company announced.

Confirming to AFP, Air France stated that “a passenger en route to Copenhagen on the Air France flight AF1750 on July 25 boarded AF1232 to Athens.”

The airline also went on to assure vacationers that safety was never compromised at any time during the incident. An investigation into the matter has been launched.

This isn’t the first time such a mix-up has occurred. Back in May, United Airlines sent a French woman to San Francisco, even though her boarding pass clearly indicated she was going to Paris.

Since it seems even airlines can make mistakes, check your documents yourself, travelers!
