Picture this: You’re taking a midnight stroll, but you’re not praying your phone’s battery doesn’t die. How is this possible, you ask?

You’re skipping down a glow-in-the-dark pathway, of course!

While the new technology is still in its beginning test phases, the people of Singapore are feeling pretty hopeful – not to say excited.

Easily installed within a matter of hours, the country’s government is currently testing the surface along its Rail Corridor, a track with a distance of 400 meters, the India Times reported.

So how did the most innovative country in Asia come to create this Disney-esque magic?

Well, they put their thinking caps on and combined four different ingredients: binded fine gravel, cemented aggregate, grass and fine gravel, and *drum roll* strontium aluminate – the compound that creates glow-in-the-dark products, according to Mashable.

With a mission to create a surface that would offer a safer and more resilient trail, officials are also reaching out to the public for their opinion on the materials’ durability.

While many are hopeful, not everyone is impressed, and this has a lot to do with the lack of glow in the whole glow-in-the-dark feature.

"I was hoping it was bright enough to see my face," Xavier Tan told Mashable. "[It’s] slightly underwhelming."

But Judy Ni is still a believer.

"I think it’s quite interesting for this area as a test bed for all this material," she shared with Mashable.

Though things are only just taking off, in Singapore at least, streetlights may one day be a thing of the past.
