Ex-Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi received a comfortable majority of 221 votes in the National Assembly of Pakistan for the position of Pakistani prime minister, according to the house's speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — The National Assembly of Pakistan on Tuesday supported the appointment of ex-Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as the country's new prime minister, the house's speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, said.

Abbasi received a comfortable majority of 221 votes.
