Japan Dome House has been manufacturing such polystyrene bubble houses for over 15 years, but a surge of interest in the company's products was seen after the April 2016 earthquakes in Kumamoto Prefecture. Many structures collapsed and caught fire due to the disaster, and more than 44,000 people were evacuated from their homes.
However, among the structures which were resilient to earthquakes was a small village of 480 dome houses at the Aso Farm Land resort, seen in this video. None of these differently-themed cute and cozy houses were damaged.
