KRASNOYARSK (Sputnik) — Scores of people, most of them children, have been admitted to hospitals with food-poisoning like symptoms after a festival at a dance camp in south Russia, health authorities said.
"As of 8 a.m. [1:00GMT]… 77 people have been hospitalized with poisoning symptoms, including 66 children… Four children and one adult declined to be hospitalized," the health ministry of the Buryatia region said in a statement.
Authorities said all patients were in stable condition and there was no risk to their lives. They are checking whether sanitary rules had been broken.
The regional prosecutor’s office has opened an inquiry into the suspected poisoning at the nine-day Baikal Dance Camp gathering that was first reported on Wednesday. The event was attended by some 300 teens aged between 12 and 17.
