Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of Sputnik news agency and the RT broadcaster, commented on the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) policy research center's new platform, tracking and analyzing the online presence of these two outlets.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Hamilton 68 dashboard was launched on Wednesday by the GMF's Alliance for Securing Democracy initiative and it intends to focus on RT and Sputnik as well as on several hundred Twitter accounts that it considers to be promoting Moscow's point of view.

"The Alliance for Securing Democracy carefully preserves democracy, thoughtfully protecting the Americans from the influence of RT and Sputnik," Simonyan told RT.

The intense scrutiny of RT and Sputnik comes amid continuing allegations that Russia influenced the US presidential election in 2016. Senior Russian officials have repeatedly denied such interference and stated that Moscow refrains from meddling in internal affairs of foreign countries.

The GMF, a nonprofit, received $11.8 million as support and revenue last year, according to its 2016 financial report, including over $2.2 million in US federal grants.
