WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — These false accusations against Moscow, Rohrabacher added, have already made it more difficult for the United States to work with Russia on key issues and have diverted public attention from the greater threat of global terrorism.
"The findings of these specialists destroy the credibility of the charges that Russia hacked the system, disclosed the emails, and thus greatly impacted the outcome of the last election," Rohrabacher said.
The document, posted on Consortiumnews.com, was signed by more than 20 individuals including former NSA Technical Director William Binney, who designed many of the agency’s data collection programs. The letter was also endorsed by five ex-CIA officers and analysts; former State Department Intelligence Research Director Marshall Carter-Tripp; UN Iraq Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter; along with several diplomats and representatives from the FBI and military intelligence agencies.
The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and National Security Agency (NSA) in January released an assessment accusing Russia of meddling in last year's US presidential election. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other senior officials have repeatedly denied allegations of meddling in the election.
