US House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee Ranking member Elijah Cummings has asked ousted National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's former business partner Brian Kian to hand over any evidence of Flynn’s unreported foreign contacts, according to a letter published by the lawmaker on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Flynn's application for a five-year security clearance listed Kian as a personal reference. During Flynn's background investigation, Kian was interviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"To assist in our Committee's investigation of General Flynn's unreported foreign contacts and foreign business relationships, I request that you produce, by August 16, 2017: all documents and communications referring or relating to General Flynn's 'work related foreign person contacts,'" Cummings wrote in the letter.

In his letter, Cummings also asked Kian to hand over "all documents and communications referring or relating to General Flynn's 'professional work relationships with foreign businesses'; and all documents and communications referring or relating to General Flynn's foreign travel."

Flynn resigned as National Security Advisor in February after it was revealed that he did not fully disclose the contents of his communications with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak to US Vice President Mike Pence and other White House officials.

The Oversight Committee is investigating alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US election.

Russia denies interfering in the vote, insisting that it does not meddle in the internal affairs of other countries.
