A spokesperson for the Russian Embassy in Iran told Sputnik about possible talks with military experts and meeting between Russian Deputy PM and Iranian Defense Minister.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian, Turkish and Iranian military experts may hold talks on Syria in Tehran on August 8-9 and the sides are waiting for the confirmation from Ankara, a spokesperson for the Russian Embassy in Iran told Sputnik.

"The trilateral negotiations of military experts within the Astana Russia-Iran-Turkey format are scheduled to take place on August 8-9. There is no 100-percent guarantee that these talks will take place until the final consent of the Turkish side is received," the spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, it is not clear so far, who will head the Russian delegation.

"We expect to receive this information," the spokesperson added.

Moreover, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin may meet with Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan on Saturday on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, a representative of the Russian Embassy in Tehran told Sputnik.

"He [Rogozin] will arrive early in the morning on August 5 and leave in the evening. The aim of the visit is to take part in the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and maybe a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan. It has not been fully agreed yet," the embassy's representative said.

The presidential election in Iran took place on May 19. Rouhani was reelected for a second term in office by gaining 57 percent of votes with the turnout amounting to 70 percent.
